JFSJ and Selah Recognized by Slingshot
Jewish Funds for Justice (JFSJ) and its Selah Leadership Program have been named two of the nation's 50 most innovative Jewish nonprofits in Slingshot, a resource guide created by next-generation philanthropists. JFSJ is proud to be among friends and allies from Hazon to Ikar to Uri L'Tzedek.
Slingshot, now in its fifth year, features organizations, leaders, and programs that have taken an innovative approach to addressing ago-old concerns of identity and community in Jewish life today. JFSJ is honored to be named to Slingshot's list for the fifth year in a row.
The Selah Leadership Program is one of only ten organizations selected to receive a capacity building grant from the Slingshot Fund, which supports organizations with financial and programmatic support. Selah was created through the generous support of the Nathan Cummings Foundation.

Nominate your favorite groups for a Jewish Choice Award!
What organizations are making a difference? GreatNonprofits and GuideStar have launched the Jewish Choice Awards, a popular-choice contest for Jewish nonprofits. It's easy to cast your vote (you get as many as you want)...all you have to do is write a short review of your favorite organizations on GreatNonprofits.org, an online "Zagat" for nonprofits.
Some of our favorite allies are on the list from AJWS to BBYO to PJA. If you've had a great experience with a Jewish nonprofit, share your thoughts here and select Jewish Choice Awards in "Is this review for a specific content?" While you're there, we hope you'll write a review for JFSJ too!
Join Mik Moore in the Bay at J-REC: Jewish Response to the Energy Challenge
On November 8, join Mik Moore, Chief Strategy Officer, at the J-REC conference on the Jewish community's role in the emerging green economy. Hundreds of Jewish leaders are gathering at the San Francisco Jewish Community Center to share ideas and experiences that will advance the generational movement for clean and secure energy.
On Sunday afternoon, join Mik to learn more about JFSJ's Just Green Jobs initiative that is advancing the creation of family-supporting green jobs that serve as pathways out of poverty. Concerned that new jobs would not create economic security for those most in need, JFSJ's focus is securing good green jobs for the undertrained unemployed. If it reaches its potential, a just green economy can combat America's entrenched poverty and reduce dependence on non-renewable energy.
