Application for Selah Leadership Program

Application directions

  1. Answer each of the following application questions in a paragraph or two. Please limit the total answers to these questions to 2000 words.
  2. Attach a CV including the names and contact information of two references.
  3. We require one letter of recommendation from someone who has directly worked with you. Your letter of recommendation should be from someone other than the people you list as your references. Letters should be no longer than one page. Letters must be attached to an e-mail and received by the September 27th deadline to jfriedlander@jewishjustice.org. The e-mail subject line should be the applicant’s full name.

    The letter of recommendation should include information about:
    • Your leadership skills within your workplace
    • Your passion for social change
    • Your ability to work with others
  4. Selah applications are due by 5pm on Monday, September 27. Applications that are not complete at this time will not be considered. We will not accept mailed or faxed applications.

3.Please describe your organizational role, responsibilities, and one recent professional accomplishment.

4. Describe your motivation for applying to the Selah Leadership Program. How does it align with your long/short term goals?

5. Please summarize the ways in which your Jewish identity is connected to your leadership and work for social justice.

6. Please share how your academic, social justice, and/or life experiences have shaped your leadership.

7. What impact do you hope to have on the future of your organization or sector of the social change movement in which you are engaged?

8. Given the personal exploration and investigation this program requires, what strengths will you bring to the cohort, and what knowledge and insights are you hoping to develop? Please also include how you feel about participating in an "intentional community" and network.

9. Please list any volunteer, lay, or professional affiliations you currently maintain/are involved in, and the duration of your affiliation/involvement.

10. Please write a brief (one paragraph) bio, one that you would be comfortable sharing publicly with the cohort group in advance of the retreat. (100 word limit)

11. Please list the name, organization, title, mailing address, email address, and phone number of the person who will write your letter of recommendation.
