The Shefa Funds at the Jewish Funds for Justice, JFSJ’s donor-advised giving program, offers guidance, customized research, and administrative services to Jewish families and individuals interested in effective and strategic social justice grantmaking.
As a donor advisor with JFSJ, you will be provided with expertise, administrative simplicity, and a progressive Jewish home for your philanthropy.
Benefits:
- When you make donor-advised grants through JFSJ, you will increase your grantmaking leverage – JFSJ’s status as a public foundation gives your grantees enhanced legitimacy and publicity. JFSJ’s Jewish identity encourages funding by other Jews and Jewish institutions.
- Our research and analysis identifies the most effective and innovative community organizations and congregation-based organizing projects. We can also provide you with customized research on your specific funding priorities.
- We handle all government reporting and paperwork, including tax-reporting and check-writing.
- You can make grants anonymously, if you desire.
- Tax advantages through JFSJ are greater than those allowed to private family foundations.
You can establish a Shefa Fund with a minimum of $10,000, then ask JFSJ to distribute grants to support non-profit organizations at your own pace. For information on fees and services, contact Jeffrey Dekro at (215) 483-4004 or jdekro@jewishjustice.org.
