It doesn't have to be lonely at the top. In fact, it shouldn't be.
Like social change, leadership is about engaging others, sustaining and cultivating communities and movements, inspiring others to give their best, and fulfilling your vision and your organization's mission.
Jewish Funds for Justice's Selah Executive Cohort is designed for Jewish professionals dedicated to social change who have at least 10 to 15 years of experience.
The Executive Cohort provides unparalleled training for senior leaders, new tools to enhance your vision and facilitate organizational change, and the opportunity to learn among some of the nation's most innovative and inspiring Jewish social change leaders. After all, no social justice leader works alone.
The application process - ongoing through Monday, September 27, 2010, to senior leaders in Jewish and secular organizations - is highly competitive and open to Jews interested in exploring the connections between social justice and Judaism.
Deadline: September 27, 2010
The Selah Approach
The Selah Leadership Program is rooted in the belief that by transforming leaders, we are better able to transform society. Selah's Executive Cohort will bring 22 to 26 social change leaders together for eight days of intensive leadership and management training over six months. Selah approaches this learning process on three levels: the person, the organization, and the field, integrating individual development, organizational effectiveness, and collaboration skills.
- Selah enhances your individual capacity and capabilities to create widespread change.
Selah's top-tier training helps leaders clarify their visions and hone the personal skills and strategies necessary to achieve them. - Selah supports and sustains leaders working to create a more just world.
By better understanding themselves and the landscapes in which they work, leaders can work more effectively for change and prevent burnout. - Selah fosters connections and community.
After completing the Selah training, participants become members of the Selah Network, the only national forum of its kind where Jewish social change professionals can foster relationships, strategize, learn from one another, and find the support they need for visioning for social change.
More About Selah
The Selah Leadership Program is a collaboration between the Nathan Cummings Foundation and Jewish Funds for Justice, in partnership with the Rockwood Leadership Program. Selah was created through the generous support of the Nathan Cummings Foundation. Selah is the first leadership training designed specifically for Jewish leaders working across the social change field. Since its founding in 2004, Selah has trained more than 200 leaders from 165 organizations. Selah participants come from diverse religious backgrounds and include secular and observant Jews who work for Jewish and secular organizations. This is the first time Selah is offering a program designed exclusively for senior leaders from around the United States.
What Past Participants Have to Say
96% of participants would strongly recommend Selah to colleagues.
In the words of one: “Selah's leadership focus has been strengthening individually, and working together opens the possibility for greater impact. As Selah supports us as Jewish change agents, and helps build connections to both the Jewish institutional community and broader society, it can bring new vitality to Jewish social justice. Selah supports us, as social justice Jews, in changing the world.” – Heather Booth, veteran activist and President of Midwest Training Academy, Selah Cohort 4.
