About the awards

In May 2007, JFSJ presented four $10,000 awards to young Jewish individuals who exemplify strong Jewish leadership and values in the progressive nonprofit and organizing communities. The winning candidates work full-time for a progressive organizing or advocacy group.

Through the Cornerstone Awards, JFSJ not only supports individual leaders in their own professional development but also supports their organizations as they make change in the world. Each $10,000 award will be divided as follows: 25% of the total award will be available to the winner for professional development, 75% will be granted to the winner’s workplace for general support.

The Cornerstone Awards were given in honor of four extraordinary people through the generosity and vision of their families and friends. JFSJ honors those who came before us as we recognize those who are leading us forward. JFSJ thanks the friends and family of Sally Kohn, Lawrence Levine, Ruth Usher, Valerie White
