Hurricane Recovery and Redevelopment Fund
As Hurricane Gustav makes landfall and once again draws national attention to the need to rebuild New Orleans, JFSJ is prepared to collaborate with its long-standing community partners in the Gulf Coast to provide both immediate and long-term assistance. JFSJ has a dedicated fund, the Hurricane Recovery and Redevelopment Fund, to focus grantmaking, lending, and community service in those areas most impacted by Hurricane Gustav and that are still working to recover from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Donate now to help those who are suffering today and face extraordinary challenges in the months and years to come.
The Fund, building on our experience and expertise in this region, will provide an effective vehicle for distributing funds to respected community-based organizations. Please support affected communities by making a contribution now to the Hurricane Recovery and Redevelopment Fund.
We must not give up hope. JFSJ, with the support of the Jewish community has been active for the last three years in recovery efforts in the Gulf, mobilizing over $4 million dollars into the region, supporting local organizing and community investment. An ongoing Jewish response will continue to contribute to the creation of a strong, inclusive economy for New Orleans and Gulf coast residents, all of whom should have a voice in upcoming decisions about how to rebuild their communities.
With the region still struggling to recover from the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Gustav victims need our Chesed (loving kindness) as well as our commitment to ensuring Tzedek (justice) in their recovery. JFSJ is committed to supporting Gulf Coast residents reclaim their lives. It only takes a moment, please help Gustav victims right now, by making a contribution to these coordinated, targeted efforts to provide assistance through the Hurricane Recovery and Redevelopment Fund.
The work that JFSJ continues to do three years after Katrina has been a collaborative effort, made possible through the support of so many foundations, institutions, and individuals. In particular, we appreciate our major funding partners the: Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, United Jewish Communities, UJA-Federation of New York, Union for Reform Judaism, and The Andrea & Charles Bronfman Fund at Brandeis.
